Losing Tom, Finding Grace

Losing Tom, Finding Grace

The story of Jackie Slough’s journey following the suicide of her son Tom.

Written as a journal it is an honest and intimate revelation of one woman’s ability to cope with the unexpected suicide of her teenage son.

Tom was a deep-thinking and creative young man, and an active Christian. How can a young Christian commit suicide? How can a parent not feel condemned? What goes through the minds of people in these circumstances? Excerpts from Tom’s Diary are included.

You will find it difficult to put this book down. As you read through the emotional honesty of this narrative you will wonder at God’s amazing grace.

Jackie Slough

Author

Jackie Slough is first and foremost a Christian, also a wife, mother and businesswoman. She became an author after the suicide of her youngest son Tom at the age of sixteen in 2004. She felt compelled to write the events of the first week after Tom’s death ñ so as not to forget what happened, as there were so many ‘God moments’ ñ and continued for the next five years in journal form to capture each event and emotion as the family struggled to find a new ‘normal’. She now owns and runs a Tea Room with Alan, her husband, and as a couple they speak to various groups about their journey so far.
