The Father’s Heart in Flowers

The Father’s Heart in Flowers

A beautifully illustrated guide through scripture, using flower arrangements to express biblical truth.

In The Father’s Heart in Flowers, Margaret Brewer discusses her passion for flowers and how she uses them to share her faith in God. The collection of delightful paintings and reflections offers an insight into the art of flower arranging and how it can be used to express the gospel.

The devotional-style book guides us through the scriptures. Each commentary is accompanied by a beautiful illustration of a flower arrangement, offering a fresh perspective on biblical stories and principles.

Margaret Brewer has shown us how to take a passion and a talent, and turn it into a ministry that will touch the hearts of men and women.

About the Author

Margaret Brewer lives in Bedfordshire with her husband, they have four children, eight grandchildren and more recently two great grandchildren. In her thirties she obtained a city and guilds qualification in Flower Arranging and along with a friend won a silver medal at the Chelsea flower show.

Her main love was to go to various groups with a gospel message, using floral art as a visual aid. She has been doing this for over twenty years. People told her how much they enjoyed this as they had never seen a gospel message presented in flowers before, and that the floral illustrations helped them remember the message.

After retiring from work in a day hospital for Dementia patients, Margaret enrolled on a ‘Distance learning Diploma Course’ with the Society of Botanical Artists, which she gained a Diploma with Credit.

I love unusual, creative and innovative ways of communicating. They are really important because all of us are uniquely designed, and we all ‘hear’ differently. When Jesus said, “Go into all the world and preach the Gospel,” he wasn’t only speaking of preachers who teach in church pulpits. He was saying we should all publish, broadcast, proclaim and inspire people with the good news. To paint, sculpt, to write, story-tell, make films and to even arrange flowers, in a way that introduces the inquirer to God, is all part of that divine commission from Jesus – a command which echoes to us today. I love how Margaret Brewer has shown us how to take a passion and a talent, and turn it into a ministry that will touch the hearts of men and women.

Jenny Broadbridge, District President (2014-2016), Methodist Women in Britain

This is a beautiful work, and Margaret’s actual flower arrangements are as lovely as her paintings. The connection with the Bible themes has been brilliantly thought through, and the teaching which accompanies the arrangements is excellent. I have been to a number of Margaret’s presentations and thoroughly recommend them. She has the ability to use the material appropriately for her audience, and can give a Christian message gently to a secular audience e.g. with Christmas, Harvest and Easter, while in no way ‘watering down’ the subject.
