A Journey of Pentecostal Power

From the time we make Jesus our Lord and Saviour until the time we will see him in our heavenly home, we are each on a journey of faith. In his collection of short teaching books, Jim Bryden draws alongside us as a travel companion, helping us to understand the map of God’s Word and to avoid dead-ends and danger zones along the path.

This book studies God’s plan to reach the world through the church, the Body of Christ. Beginning with the ascension of Christ and the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, Jim then shows how believers are called to live out their lives and share the gospel with perseverance and faithfulness, with the promise of a heavenly reward. The book concludes with a forward look to the return of Jesus, as recorded in Revelation.

Always a pastor and preacher first, he’s held a variety of posts as a tutor and lecturer in Bible studies and Theology at The Salvation Army’s International College in London and as Training Principal in Zimbabwe.

In the third part of his Journey of Faith, Jim Bryden explores the experience of believers present at the transforming Day of Pentecost and in the exciting years that followed. How, he asks, did the Holy Spirit challenge and inspire their lives – and how should today’s Christians respond to that same Spirit in our own perplexing world? Could these be the End Times? Followers of Jesus can confidently rely on His unfailing promise: ‘…I am with you always, to the very end of the age.’

In Journey of Faith: The Last Days Jim Bryden takes the reader on the next stage of a journey begun in his two earlier books.
Beginning with the ascension of Jesus, the author relates how the Day of Pentecost saw the release of the Holy Spirit’s power into the world. These events not only mark the beginning of the time of the Church; they are also a sign that the world is living in the last days before Christ’s return. Jim takes Scripture and applies it to the times in which we live today, and challenges us to live in expectation, faithfulness and holiness of life, even if we do not know when Jesus will return.
