A testimony of how an extraordinary God intervened in the life of a very ordinary housewife

Elizabeth was born the youngest of three sisters during World War II to older parents in their mid-forties. The loss of a son before she was born was an event her father never got over, and experiencing rejection was a repeated feature of her early years.

This true life story is a testimony of how God brought healing to a wounded heart and then provided opportunities for service for Him. There are laughs and heartaches along the way, but God is faithful and brings good even out of tragic circumstances. Drawing on her experiences, Elizabeth is enabled to serve others and sees God working in amazing ways.

‘And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.’ – Romans 8:28

…written with a refreshing honesty and an inspiring reality.

It has been a pleasure to read, and now to commend, ‘You in Your Small Corner’. This is Elizabeth’s life story, which is also inseparable from her Christian faith. Her story, though at one level ‘ordinary’, captures one’s attention from beginning to end. This is because it is well written with a refreshing honesty and an inspiring reality. Elizabeth shares the challenges of her early life, the joy of marriage and babies, growing cold in her faith and meeting God again, the grief of losing close friends, the pain of divorce, the surprise of remarriage, the challenge of her husband’s depression and opportunities for Christian service. Yet through it all, God’s grace shines through, and it’s this that has made the ‘ordinary’ extraordinary.
I think Elizabeth’s testimony could be a great encouragement to many other ‘ordinary’ people, who have struggling, or still are struggling, with similar issues. In a world full of celebrities and big headlines, this is the story of the King of the Universe working in one small corner of the world, away from the blaze of publicity! And He can work in your corner too!
